D.C. Operations Manager

SUMMARY

Our Distribution Center Operations Manager is a high visibility role for our company and has great impact on the success of our business. You will oversee the shipping, receiving, returns, and inventory departments of our warehouse which includes supervision of 35 to 45 non-exempt employees and temporary staff, as well as 4 exempt managers. Managing the department budget and ensuring the accuracy of our 10,000+ SKU inventory is a crucial success factor for this position.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties may be assigned.  Management retains the discretion to change or add to the duties of this position.

  • Oversee all aspects of customer order processing including receiving, picking/packing, batch allocations, pick ticket release, order fulfillment, and shipping accurately and on time
  • Oversee department budget and cost control measures
  • Ensure that all special order fulfillment processes including custom packaging, ticketing, and handling for select customers are completed in a timely manner without errors
  • Monitor and track all rush or special order requests through order fulfillment and shipping department for timely completion
  • Serve as primary point of contact for transportation carriers (Fed-Ex, UPS, trucking firms, etc.)
  • Train and coach entire DC team on a regular basis and identify individuals with advancement opportunities
  • Assist with planning staffing needs in accordance with monthly budget, incoming factory shipments, outgoing customer orders, and organizational projects
  • Assist with establishing individual productivity standards and metrics for each warehouse function
  • Supervise the receipt of factory shipments from several different countries
  • Manage all aspects of returns processing
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Provide hands-on assistance for any warehouse department when needed – pick product, pack boxes, process returns, etc.
  • Complete reporting (daily/weekly/monthly) on warehouse activities and statistics as requested

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a distribution center management role
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Inventory control management experience with a minimum of 2,000 SKU
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and time constraints
  • Supervisory experience managing both non-exempt and exempt staff
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and RF data management
  • Experience with Microsoft NAV ERP software preferred
